To improve
the overall physical well-being of the children, extra food
like bread, milk, fruits and vitamins, is provided. In
addition there are periodic medical check-ups by
professional doctors and eye check-ups. Medicines and
glasses are provided when necessary.
Besides day to day focus on health Kushi also arranges for
further reaching medical attention to give individual
children a chance of a normal life uninhibited by
disabilities.
In the past
years several children have undergone mayor surgery:
An 8 year-old-girl has successfully undergone heart surgery
in the National Heart Institute in New Delhi . The girl
recovered completely and gained a lot of confidence since
the pressure on her longs has subsided.
A 14-year-old boy has had leg surgery in Nirmal Ashram in
Rishikesh to correct a deformity affecting his leg.
An 8-year-old boy, is suffering from Spina Bifida (split
spine). For this he had spine surgery and plastic surgery in
Jolly Grant hospital in Dehra Duhn. He still needs more
plastic surgery for trophic foot ulcers.
A 7-year-old girl is suffering from severe hearing loss. She
was provided with hearing aid and has weekly speech therapy. |
